Our Honeymoon...

It was an amazing 70 degrees during the day while we were in Ireland and we cannot wait to go back someday! I kept track of what we did every day. Enjoy!

Day 1:

We had a 10:30 pm flight (which turned in to more like midnight) out of NYC and arriving in Dublin around 10 am the next day. After 5 hours and 45 minutes of sleeping uncomfortably on a plane we still arrived on schedule and went straight to the Marrion Hotel (Dublin’s luxury hotel) where our room wasn’t ready yet so we were forced to venture out into the city jet-lagged an all. We stopped at a small café where we had lunch and continued to roam the city and get our bearings straight because we knew we’d be doing a lot of walking and Dublin is not so “grid friendly” as Manhattan.

We stopped by the tourism office and booked a day trip out to the Cliffs of Moher five days in advance. At that point we pretty much used what was left of our energy and made our way back to the hotel where we ordered room service and passed out around 8 in the evening and slept for almost 16 hours. Not kidding.

Day: 2

We woke up around noon and went out for lunch and did some shopping at their awesome whiskey shop where we got to taste test a few things. Yum. We walked around a bit more and did some site-seeing of the city itself to decide what we wanted to see up close and personal. We went to a great local pub and later to dinner where we encountered an Asian woman with an Irish dialect that really confused our brains; however, we managed.

Day 3:

We went out for brunch at this great little café called Nude right by Trinity college. We didn’t even realized what it was called at first. We just looked at the menu outside and decided the food sounded good. It was definitely a college style café and the food was yummy.

We continued around the corner back to the tourist office where we got a wonderful little card called a Dublin Pass which (for a flat rate) got us into several sites for less than what we would have paid for them individually! Brilliant! We got a tour of Dublin Castle and its church followed by the Guinness Storehouse where we enjoyed a free pint and then continued on to O’Connell Street (the major street of Dublin) where we did some gift shopping and had dinner.

Day 4:

Our 1 week ANNIVERSARY!

We started our day in Phoenix Park where we went to the zoo (also included on our Dublin Pass) followed by the Jameson Distillery where Tyler got his “drinking certificate” and where I discovered my new favorite drink: cranberry and Jameson… which happens to be a VERY popular drink in Ireland. After that we went to Christchurch Cathedral (yes, after drinking Jameson) and Tyler took some great photos. We ended up eating dinner at the Porterhouse Pub which is popular for all its local Irish beers.

Day 5:

We decided to take it easy and slept in a bit and went to another great café where they had a fabulous Sunday brunch special. Then it was off to the National Museum of Ireland where we learned more about the Viking history of Ireland and finished off our evening at yet another pub.

Day 6:

The big day trip to the Cliffs of Moher with stops in between and after!
We had to be at the tourist center by 7:50 am where about 50 people loaded up on a bus and we headed west.

First stop was at a small medieval fortress called Bunratty Castle. No, that’s not a typo.

Second was the beautiful Cliffs of Moher where the weather was perfect and a slight chill to the wind right off the Atlantic.

After that we stopped in a small fishing town called Doolin where we had lunch and laughs.

We also got to see some cliffs known as the Mini-Cliffs because they have often been mistaken as the Cliffs of Moher; not even close silly people.

Then there was Black Head which got its name from the large outbreak of potato famine.

Next was Poulnabrone Dolmen, which in Gaelic is known as the hole of sorrows, where we got to see a tabletop tomb dating back to 420 BC. This tomb was surrounded by limestone and fossil Lunar like rock formations known as the Burren and stretched for about 320 km.

Later we stopped at Corcomroe Abbey which was founded in 1194 and also known as the Burren Abbey.

Then it was back to Dublin we were…

Day 7:

Our last and our coldest day in Dublin. We slept in a bit to recoup from the previous day’s travel and eventually made our way to St. Patrick’s Cathedral and Kilmainham Gaol Prison. We finished off our evening back at O’Connell Street where we had dinner, bought a few more gifts and made our way back to the hotel to get plenty of sleep before our return to NYC the next morning.

HUGE THANKS!!!

The husband and I would like to thank everyone who contributed to the wedding in making it the most amazing day we could have ever asked for! You know who you are and we love all of you very much and appreciate everything you did to make this day possible.

Another huge thanks to all of our vendors for being so wonderful! You made this experience unforgettable and we cannot thank you enough for making this day possible.

7 days!!!

It's hard to believe that there is only one week left!

Pretty much everything is done at this point and we've been meeting with our "day-of" coordinator who came included with our venue. She's absolutely amazing.

Other than that, just paying people off and have to make a trip to Spec's to buy the liquor.

Yippy!

6.13.2010

13 days!!!

Yep. It's officially less than two weeks away and here I am left planning some of these last bits all by myself while everyone is out of town. Talk about stressful.

Just tying up some loose ends, paying people off, creating agendas and about to finish up my last week at work!

I can't believe it's almost here!

20 days to go...

We have now hit the less than three week mark and tying up all loose ends. We met with the harpist yesterday, made our ceremony selections and she is wonderful. I've been in touch with the caterer and for the most part I think we are close to our final numbers in the RSVP department. Still need to meet with the DJ but I have been in touch with the photographer who has some great ideas for photos. I'm still trying to figure out what to do with my hair...

We have met with the Pastor for our pre-marital counseling and after a two hour session he says he has a lot of confidence in our future together because of how well we communicate with one another.

Other than that... just a bunch of little things and payments to get done! Getting more and more excited EVERY day!

5.18.2010

39 days left...

The wedding shower (which was on May 8th) was a hit! We got all kinds of gift cards and can't wait to go on our newlyweds shopping spree! Thanks to every who were able to make it but most of all and BIG thanks to our hostesses!

Also, I've made some changes (mostly added things) to our wedding site so be sure to look around and check it out.

ALL the bridesmaids dresses are officially in and the guys have been measured for tuxes.

The flowers are paid in full and all other deposits have been paid. Just gotta tie up loose ends once we get to Austin.

RSVPs are arriving and some people are forgetting to put their names on them. Good thing I wrote them in pencil on the back before I mailed them. ;) Some people still haven't gotten invites because they were lost in the mail and we're trying to get those resent.

We meet with the Pastor in Houston this Saturday for our pre-martial counseling!

I had my final dress fitting last Tuesday and pick up my dress today!

Lastly, we leave for Austin tomorrow morning which is where we will be all the way until the wedding then back to NYC so that we can go on our honeymoon!

52 days to go...

Things are starting to seem a bit surreal with our upcoming wedding shower in Oklahoma. For those of you that are able to make it, can't wait to see you on Saturday!
